Categories 1 and 2 - Best Garden Landscape Design
Best Garden Landscape Design is awarded to the garden and landscape that excels in design and implementation. Taken into consideration here are both the planting schedule, all built elements such paving, retaining walls etc. and garden lifecycle. Alfresco areas and swimming pools are not a prerequisite of this category. Garden show Gardens cannot be entered in this category, however gardens to multi-residential development may be. Entrant must submit their project into the appropriate size category.

Category 3 - Best Feature in a Landscape
This category focuses on a single element within a greater landscape. Features considered include sculptures, feature walls, water fountains or anything that acts as a focal point. Swimming pools, outdoor lounge or dining areas and cabanas are not included in this category.
Category 4 - Best Pool Design
Best Pool Design will be awarded to that which best captures the enticing nature of a swimming pool. The pool must be integrated into a greater, designed and considered landscape and will be judged along with its immediate environment, i.e. deck, terrace etc. Entrants must be able to demonstrate it’s the water-saving features as well as how he pool meets its purpose for the owners.
Category 5 - Best Plantscape Design
This category recognizes the skill and knowledge required to implement a considered planting scheme that is appropriate to the landscape’s context. Though highly regarded, sustainability is not a pre-requisite here. Plantscape refers to all soft elements of the garden design and includes trees, shrubs and ground cover. The organization of these elements is as important as the elements themselves.
Category 6 - Best Conceptual Design
This category recognizes the innovative deign of an un-built residential, or multi-residential garden and landscape. The entrant will be judged on overall design, layout and appropriateness to expected context. Swimming pools and outdoor lounge or dining areas are not essential to this category.
Category 7 - Best Show Garden
This category is awarded to the best garden that is designed and built for a garden or home show. The design must excel in organization and implementation, and demonstrate a pushing of the boundaries of the traditional garden.
Category 8 - Best Construction of a Garden
This category awards the landscaper that excels in the literal establishment of a garden design. Taken into account is the site context and difficulty as well as the complexity of implementing the designed elements.
Category 9 - Best Garden Photography
This category awards outstanding photography of garden projects entered in one or more of the garden awards categories. The photographer must exhibit skill in shooting architecture in such a way that it enhances the project’s best features.
Category 10 - Best Pool Construction
This award recognises construction professionals who excel in the implementation of a pool design. The entrant needs to demonstrate quality workmanship and skill particularly in the construction of difficult elements or with unusual materials.
